HELSINKI – (February 04, 2013) – Ovelin ltd. announced today the release of Valentine’s Day Song Packagefor the recently launched online guitar learning title GuitarBots. The release enables any beginner or advanced guitarist to prepare a romantic surprise for their special someone by learning to play Valentine’s day songs on the guitar, playing a computer game. In addition to the release of new song content, the core gameplay experience of GuitarBots has also been leveled-up from the previous update.

GuitarBots Valentine’s day package features three new levels , with Valentine’s day-themed challenges suitable for both beginners and more advanced guitarists. The new package features both chord-, note- and mixed exercises. The songs included in the package are very expressive classics, ranging from Claro de Luna by Claude Debussy to Pavane by Gabriel Fauré.

GuitarBots Valentine’s Day Song Package is available online for free for Pc and Mac computers. The new levels and game improvements are added directly to existing user accounts. With a free GuitarBots account, the users can play for 5 minutes per day, up to 1 hour per day by inviting friends to join ( 5 minutes more per friend). More playtime is available with a Premium account (priced at $9.99 /month).

Ovelin ltd. announced in Slush12, Helsinki (21st November 2012) the release of their second title GuitarBots, an innovative guitar learning game played online with any real guitar – acoustic or electric. GuitarBots takes the concept of gamified guitar learning introduced in the company’s previous title WildChords to a whole new level, offering challenges both for the beginner and more advanced guitarists.

GuitarBots takes the player on an intergalactic quest of guitar mastery. To save an oncoming space concert, the player has to learn basic guitar skills. WildChords wins SXSW accelerator 2012

After an exhausting and really exciting week in Austin, we were able to receive the grand price of this years start-up accelerator competition (in the Music category). There were many really exciting other startups in the finals (from apparently over 750 applicants), so it is a huge honor for us to win this competition.

My favorite was 45sound which lets you remove the often poor audio recording of videos shot with a phone at a concert, and replace it with a high-quality recording of the band.

Personal note from Chris: In case you wonder how I managed to run out of time in the 5min presentation. I had to decide whether to user the time to rehearse for the pitch, or to go and test-drive the Chevy Volt (electric car)… the future is definitively electric, no question.

Google+ Performer Daria Musk playing WildChords

At SXSW, I bumped into Daria Musk, the singer and songwriter who has been giving virtual life concerts in Google+ hangouts “in front of” hundreds of thousands of people. She got excited about WildChords and started playing and was obviously quite happy about it.
